This painting was exciting to paint. I have long admired Tom Thomson and his painting, "Northern River", is probably my all-time favourite painting by anyone. I was standing at purportedly the same location as he stood painting his sketch for the larger painting. I had to work fast because of the weather. All the moss covered trees in his painting are long gone now but it was thrilling to be there all the same. |
