It was a chilly October morning when Martin Kotyluk and I climbed up to the location of the rock that Franklin Carmichael sat on to paint in 1935. It was a tough climb and only about 4 C so it wasn't perfect painting conditions. Having said that I was sitting on the same rock as had been used by Carmichael all those years ago so it was pretty inspiring. The grey in the background valleys is maples that had lost their leaves and on the right it marks the portage back down to Frood Lake. |
