I think that this may become one of my favourite painting locations.  I have always been excited about the escarpment and hiking trails in this area but the canal and the huge marsh at the end of it I have overlooked.
It was a dull day in early October when I painted this.  Most artists like to paint brightly lit subjects which have well defined shadows but I am starting to love cool damp days when everything is subdued.  It is a huge jump for a colourist but I am finding it exciting.
